Metal railings for period frontages
Black bars, brick piers, and a line that belongs to a Hertford or St Albans street — not a suburban panel fence on a Georgian plot.
Metal railings are the right language for many Hertfordshire frontages: cathedral-city streets in St Albans, Georgian Hertford, and estate edges in Rickmansworth. We specify bar centres, pier sizes, and a powder-coat that will live with English weather.
This is not the same job as a rear [closeboard](/services/closeboard-fencing/) run. Frontages often sit in conservation areas, need planning judgement on height, and have to meet the pavement with care. We survey the existing piers, the camber of the path, and how the house wants to be seen from the road.

What our clientssay
They understood that a St Albans terrace needed closeboard, not a thin panel. The survey was unhurried and the reverse face is as considered as the garden side.
Our Cassiobury composite fence was specified properly — aluminium posts, a grain that still looks like timber. No hard sell on extras we did not need.
Horizontal slats instead of a suburban overlap panel. It sits with the house. Communication through the install was excellent.
The railings on the frontage look as if they have always been there. They rebuilt the piers rather than pretending the old masonry would last.
